Doors and the walk to Sphere happen in the hottest part of the evening. It barely cools between leaving Caesars and coming back out.

What To Wear

Same forecast, three very different situations
☀️ Daytime outside

Light colours, loose fit, breathable fabric. Cotton, linen or a technical fabric that wicks. Shorts and a t-shirt or a loose dress. Sunglasses and a hat are not optional at this UV level.

Avoid: dark colours, tight synthetics, anything that traps heat.

❄️ Indoors

Casinos, restaurants and Sphere are all aggressively air conditioned. The temperature swing from a 100°F street to a 68°F casino is the single most uncomfortable thing about a Vegas summer.

Carry a light layer every single day, even though it feels absurd walking out the door.

🎤 The show

Whatever you want to be photographed in, as long as you can walk in it and stand in it. Sphere is a modern arena, so there is no dress code beyond "concert".

Shoes matter more than the outfit. There is a long walk at one or both ends and a lot of standing.

The Vegas summer wardrobe rule: dress for the outdoors and carry the indoors. A light cardigan, overshirt or wrap that packs into a bag solves 90% of the discomfort, and it doubles as the thing you actually need inside Sphere.

Drink water before the show, not just during. A hot walk over, a long night, and arena drink prices make it easy to arrive already behind.

Rain & the Monsoon

Mid-August falls inside the North American monsoon season, which is why the forecast shows a rain percentage at all in a desert. It behaves very differently from rain at home:

Shape
Short and violent, not all day
A storm builds in the afternoon, dumps hard for 20 to 40 minutes, and clears. An all-day drizzle essentially does not happen here.
Timing
Afternoon into early evening
Mornings are reliably clear. If a storm is coming, it comes after the day has heated up.
Kit
One folding umbrella between us
Enough for the walk between buildings. Rain jackets are overkill and you will not want to wear one at 95°F.
Watch for
Flash flooding and dust
Only relevant if we drive out to Red Rock. Desert washes fill fast and roads close. A dust wall ahead of a storm can also drop visibility on the highway. Neither affects us on the Strip.
Practical upshot: check the forecast the morning of any outdoor plan rather than packing for rain now. A monsoon storm is a reason to move indoors for an hour, not a reason to change the trip.

Staying Comfortable

Rhythm
Outdoors early, indoors midday, out again after dark
Roughly noon to 5 PM is the punishing window. Plan the pool, a spa, a casino or Area15 into it rather than fighting it.
Water
More than feels necessary
Low humidity means sweat evaporates instantly, so you never feel as hot or as wet as you actually are. Thirst arrives late here.
Alcohol
Alternate with water
Heat plus alcohol plus a dry climate is the standard way a Vegas day goes wrong. This is genuinely the most common thing that ruins a trip like this.
Distances
Everything is further than it looks
Casinos are enormous and the Strip is deceptive. A "quick walk" to the next hotel is regularly 15 minutes, much of it outdoors.
Warning signs
Headache, dizziness, stopping sweating
Get indoors, get cold water, sit down. Heat exhaustion creeps up in this climate rather than announcing itself.
